b'February 10, 2025, the Hawaii Supreme Court cleared the way for Governor Greens $4 Billion Maui Wildre Settlement. Of the $4.04 billion settlement, 30% is expected to go to the victims lawyers. The 2023 blaze killed 102 people and destroyed more than 2,200 structures. The courts order blocks insurers from suing Hawaiian Electric Co., the state, Maui County and other parties who shared blame for the res origin and spread. The insurance companies can still appeal and the case could go to the SCOUS. In the meantime, wildre victims get nothing from the proposed settlement.12'
